SPECIFICATION

Betaine is an alkaloid with the chemical name N, N, N-trimethylglycine. Its chemical structure is similar to amino acids, and it belongs to the quaternary ammonium alkaloid class.

Betaine is widely present in animals and plants. In plants, goji berries and leguminous plants both contain betaine. Beet molasses are the main source of betaine. Among animals, mollusks such as octopus, cuttlefish, shrimp, as well as vertebrates (including humans) contain betaine in their liver, spleen, and amniotic fluid.

Betaine is the one of the methyl donors in life, regulating the osmotic pressure in the body, stabilizing vitamins, attractants in fish feed, methionine substitutes in feed, and coccidiosis prevention in poultry feed, and also widely used for crop care and growing.
